SynHiSel Researcher Workshop

Queen Mary University London hosted SynHiSel’s biannual Researchers’ Workshop in May. The researchers had the opportunity to share some of the latest work they are doing on scaling up membrane manufacturing, in collaboration with our Industrial Partners at Exactmer.

Thanks to all the attendees for the stimulating and thought-provoking discussions, and to Seok Ju Han, Teifan Huang, and Chunchun Ye for organising the meeting.

In May, SynHiSel researchers gathered for a dedicated two-day workshop designed to foster collaboration, exchange ideas, and explore the wider impact of our work.

Hosted at Queen Mary University of London, Day 1 brought together researchers from across the programme to present their latest findings and engage in lively discussion on challenges and progress in membrane science. Lab tours in chemistry and engineering offered further insight into each other’s experimental approaches, strengthening connections across the SynHiSel community.

On Day 2, the group visited Exactmer, the spin-out company founded by Professor Andrew Livingston. Researchers toured the membrane manufacturing suite and synthesis labs, and heard first-hand how academic research is being translated into scalable industrial solutions, particularly in the fields of oligonucleotide and peptide synthesis.

The workshop was a powerful reminder of the strength and ambition of the SynHiSel network and the value of coming together to share science in a supportive, collaborative setting.

Sincere thanks to our hosts at QMUL and Exactmer for making this event possible, and to all the researchers who contributed their work, insight, and energy to two inspiring days.
