Manchester Team Visits University of Chile’s Advanced Mining Technology Centre

Maria and Pablo Present Research at the Advanced Mining Technology Centre (AMTC), University of Chile

Professor Maria Perez-Page (SynHiSel Principal Investigator) and Dr Pablo Lopez-Porfiri (SynHiSel PDRA), both from the University of Manchester, recently visited the Advanced Mining Technology Centre (AMTC) at the University of Chile for a two-day research exchange focused on membrane technologies for electrochemical and separation applications.

On Day 1, they were welcomed by Dr. Humberto Estay, Executive Director of AMTC, who provided an overview of the Centre’s research capabilities and a tour of the Process Development Laboratory. They also met with the advanced materials research group, led by Dr. Andreina García, and held discussions with AMTC leadership about the Centre’s R&D in mining and potential opportunities for future collaboration.

On Day 2, they delivered a seminar titled “Membrane Technologies for Electrochemical and Separation Applications.”

Maria presented her research on membrane use in electrochemical systems, including proton exchange membrane fuel cells, while Pablo shared insights into supported liquid membranes for sustainable separations and greener chemical production.

Maria and Pablo would like to thank everyone at AMTC for their warm hospitality, engaging discussions, and a highly rewarding visit. They look forward to future collaborations.
